Substack, you melodious mockery of methods mimicked in marginalized moods,

I have to tone it back. I’m such a teacher I can’t stop won’t stop (in my veins). I still won’t, but I’ll adjust. If you want HVR, THE English Teacher, I’m changing up some rules.

I turned on PAID SUBS. I knooooow. I found out I had paid subs for a while now, but since I use different browsers for HVR (since I’m a deep cover whistleblower), I didn’t see it until now. Same with people getting me coffee? Thank you. I’m just a third culture kid from the gutter who moved all the time and never was accepted; as a result, I turned to being of service. That’s much of the way I turned into…. me. See any posts on my grooming.

The problem? I’m still of service here. I am so sucky at all relationships, including online, that it’s what I know. The dope hits are bigger than time with my daughter, and that’s a problem.

What does that mean? I will still drop chats about sharing any pieces. I won’t read all of them. If you want my eyes on something? The best strategy is a DM, but you should be doing for me what you’re asking. I’ll encourage you to read each others. I won’t spend the same amount of time I have. I put in so much real time and effort, and I get back a like. It’s not a 50 50 thing and I don’t expect it to be; however, I do think it should be equal footing.

A like for a like. A half ass comment for a half ass comment. Etc. Some of the same people keep dropping pieces here and there, and the teacher in me is so happy to help. I have others who support me every step, and I’m not holding up my end.

The book is available. No matter how many likes I get from some of you, you’ll never put it on the socials. I’m not mad. I get it, but my time is finite.

As of now, all posts will be free. I’m not sure if it will continue that way.

Stay free? That’s cool. No worries. Access to posts (currently) and respond in sub chat.

Pay? I will drop some private posts, I guess. You can start the sub chat. You’ve seen how well I promo people. How well I hype. I will do that for you. Regularly. Perhaps the best benefit? This English teacher can preview, edit, and help revise anything before you post. Just give me notice.

Founding? Priority feedback, hacks, and more. I haven’t figured it all out yet.

Oh, and just because I have paid subs doesn’t mean I’ll pay for you. I’m a teacher with two other jobs.

If you’re young, unable to afford it, or whatever other circumstances, DM me. I’m pretty open. I got on Substack to find people like me. I’m not gatekeeping my others mes; however, I am protecting my time from some who are taking advantage.

I’m still happy to help new writers find an audience. I’m still likely to read, but much less. Expect my reads to be OGs, those who ask, those who reciprocate, or those who write what I like.

I do know I spend more time and effort on most readings; take a look at my comments and restacks and tell me I’m lying. I’ll wait. If it’s not reciprocated, it’s fine. Just don’t expect it of me.

Also, I am going through my follows. If I sub or follow you and it’s not returned, I’m unsubbing and unfollowing. If you follow me? I follow you. If you sub me? I sub you. Equal footing with HVR.

If this bothers you, I can understand. Look back at your comments and restacks from me before you make it weird, though. If I’ve missed you, let me know, and I’ll make it up to you.

I’ll still do the writing lessons. I’ll still help language learners. That’s more important to me than some of your writings that are self promo anyway.

Maybe I’ll add “office hours” to paid subs.
